2010 Grand Summer Ball

This year's Grand Summer Ball was definitely an evening to remember. An expansive mirrored bar greeted partygoers who were then ushered into the Grand Ballroom. The setting incorporated the drama of Old Hollywood Glamour. Lampshades glowed atop clear vases with a single stem of orchids inside. Other tables featured tall trumpet vases with palm fronds that cast a beautiful shadow on the tables.

Chef Mike Wallace delivered an “over-the-top” menu with #1 grade Ahi tuna as an appetizer with a filet and seafood empanadas as an entrée. Dolce de Leche Cheesecake was accompanied by shooters of Aztec chocolate. Az-IzZ and the Molly Ringwalds kept everyone dancing until the wee hours of the morning.

However, it was more than just a beautiful evening. The Thomas Hospital Foundation netted more than $120,000. The proceeds will help purchase high definition laparoscopic equipment. HD (high definition) is the finest viewing standard available.

Some of the equipment being replaced will be donated to the Bayside Medical Missions organization. Under Dr. Paul Feller’s leadership, a Surgical Center in Portoviejo, Ecuador is being built to serve poverty stricken residents. This year’s Ball was dedicated to Dr. Fellers and his work for our community as well as his service abroad.
